Pluribus
Recently, I watched Pluribus, a 2025 drama with 1 season on Apple TV. “The Others,” the collective knowledge of the Others, kind of felt like AI: anything anyone learns is learned by all.

Spoiler alert!
Background
In Pluribus, “the Others” (also known as the Joined, or “us”) are the majority of Earth’s population, transformed into a collective hive mind by an alien RNA virus. Most of the world has been “joined” into a collective state where people seem calm, cooperative, and stripped of ordinary conflict. Reviews and synopses consistently describe them as a kind of peaceful hive mind or collective intelligence, created after the alien virus assimilates humanity.
The thought
When I used AI, I felt the same. Everyone, everywhere, is asking questions, which are later used to train it, and the shared knowledge of human beings is making powerful LLMs that know everything. This is democratizing because everyone has access to all of this. Then skills, information, and coordination become collective assets instead of private ones. That is why the Others can feel almost unbeatable, similar to people with AI.
Do you want to be the immune?
If you want to be the immune or the survivors, and not use your content to improve the model or the collective conscience, then turn off the setting.
Here is how you do it for ChatGPT
Go to Profile → Settings → Data Controls → turn off “Improve the model for everyone.”
Here is what you do for Google Gemini:
Go to your Profile picture → Gemini Apps Activity → Turn off, or choose Turn off and delete activity.
